Description
Bruce Stark Lowney (1937-2019) received his Fine Arts degrees from North Texas State University and San Francisco State University. Inspired by the beauty of the New Mexico landscape he created rich tricolor stone lithographs with symbolic objects placed within a deep perspective. He believed that there was a spirit in the artistic object and those selected in his work as expansive trees, cumulus clouds, mountains, and columns were a metaphor for humankind reaching upward to a higher understanding of life. The theories of Carl Jung and the collective unconscious and ancient mythology were significant to the artist and reflective in his vast sublime landscapes.
