Abstract
This document is the report by NCA: North Central Association (now HLC: Higher Learning Commission) after a focused visit to General Motors Institute (now Kettering University on May 4-6, 1992. GMI had requested two changes in its affiliation status:
- offer the MSEng (Masters in Science in Engineering) degree by video courier at sites in the United States
- offer MSMM (Masters in Science in Manufacturing Management) program by video courier at various sites in Mexico and Hong Kong.
NCA evaluators visited Matamoros in Mexico, Hong Kong, and a “learning center” in Saginaw, Michigan. The Institute’s accreditation at the Master’s degree-granting level is limited to the Master of Science in manufacturing Management and the Master of Science in Engineering. The MSEng is limited to sites within the US. The MSMM is limited to sites in the US and Canada, Maquiladora plant sites in Mexico, and Hong Kong.
NOTE: The Hong Kong site never became operational.
