Abstract
Create the capstone options for the following programs:
MBA and Tech MBA
BUSN-779 Innovation & New Ventures or MGMT-639 Internship in Management- On Campus (4 credit hours)
MS in Engineering Management
MGMT-659 Strategy or MGMT-639 Internship in Management- On Campus (4 credit hours)
MS in Operations Management
MGMT-659 Strategy or MGMT-639 Internship in Management- On Campus (4 credit hours)
The addition of the Internship option as a capstone course will enable students to demonstrate the practical application of knowledge, skills, and abilities drawn from formal theoretical course works that undergird the specified graduate degree program. This experiential learning-based capstone option provides an opportunity to develop practical reasoning through the application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of knowledge in a real-world setting. It ensures that students in these professional degree programs learn how to bring the acquired knowledge together with practical skills in pursuit of the field’s defining purposes. This capstone option will enhance the agility and professional competence of students in making informed decisions drawing on the multiple sources of knowledge and skills. This can be regarded as a consummation of professional preparation with an opportunity for experience and reflection on those experiences as required in the newly designed internship course.
